Class objectives
Acquisition of knowledge on Japanese art and cultivation of the qualities and capacities that contribute to cultural understanding
Class content
Ink sketches were created from October to January as part of a class in the art department of the Chiba University Faculty of Education. Slide materials including learning activities, such as student discussions on "Impressions and Understanding of Japanese Art," sketches, and artwork presentations as well as questions for students from the UA, were created and reported to the UA using Knovio.
In Japan, students viewed the slides sent by the UA in response, reflected on their activities, and summarized student and instructor comments as a final report for the UA.
An important issue that emerged from the study of art as culture is the cultivation of learners' visual literacy, which is a characteristic of the subject fields of art and art education. By focusing on communication not only through language but also photographs and videos, students majoring in art took interest in and deepened their understanding of multicultural issues and other cultures as well as their own. This class is notable for its objective to cultivate the ability to understand, interpret, and express visual art as culture through COIL.

授業目的
日本美術の知識の習得及び、文化理解に関わる資質能力の育成
授業内容
千葉大学教育学部の美術科の授業の一部で墨を使った素描を継続（10月から1月）して行った。受講者の「日本美術に対する印象や理解」についてのディスカッション、素描、作品のプレゼンテーションなどの学習活動、UAの受講者への質問をまとめたスライド資料を作成し、UAへKnovioを使って報告した。
日本では授業中に返信されたスライドを鑑賞し、活動を振り返り、受講者と授業者のコメントをまとめ、最終報告としてUAへ返す。
文化としての美術に関する学習において、学習者の視覚リテラシーを育成することは重要な課題の一つであり、美術／美術教育の教科領域の特徴である。言語によるコミュニケーションだけでなく、写真や動画を使ったコミュニケーションに重点を置いたことで、美術を専攻する受講者が関心を持って、多文化／異文化／自国の文化の理解を深めることができた。文化としての視覚芸術を理解し、解釈し、表現できる力を、オンラインによる国際協働学修によって育てようと試みた点が特徴的である。
