授業目的
Class objectives
- To analyze Japanese art works in the sociocultural contexts of Japan's various historical period (art)
- To understand the process of becoming more aware of and better understanding one's own culture and other cultures (education)
授業内容
Class content
- Prof. Sung posts some questions to the UA students about their experience in learning Japanese art. (6 Oct.)
- UA Students post their video about experience in learning Japanese art (by 27 Oct.)
- CU Students post comments on at least 3 videos about what they learned from the UA students' posts (From 27 Oct. 27 to 17 Nov.)
- CU Students post comments about what they have learned from the lecture. (by 30 Nov.)
- With the guidance of Prof. Sato, each CU student will choose a Japanese object/work of art from any museum in Japan and make a short teaching video (about 3 minutes) for UA students about the object using images from the museum website. They should also include the weblink in the comment so that UA students can further explore the work (by 27 Oct.).
- A short lecture (10-15 minutes) by Prof. Sung on teaching Asian art to American students (by 27 Oct.)
- Each UA student will watch and post comments on at least 3 videos about what they have learned from the CU students (by 11 Nov.)

専門分野が互いに異なり、不安も大きかったが、丁寧なコミュニケーションを心がけ、COILへの参加当初から少しずつプロジェクトを改善していくことができた。教員にとっても新しい教育や研究の可能性を探究することができた貴重な機会となった。
Despite significant concerns regarding differences in participants' areas of expertise, we were able to gradually improve the project from the start of participation in COIL by maintaining respectful communication. This was a valuable opportunity for faculty to explore new possibilities for education and research.
