Class objectives
To consider global issues from the diverse perspectives of both Japanese and American students. To report on thesis proposals for the School of International Liberal Studies and gain new insights through comments and questions from students at the University of Alabama.
Class content
Fourth-year students at Chiba University School of International Liberal Studies posted video presentations on their thesis proposals on Moodle to solicit comments from students at the University of Alabama. The themes were "Issues Concerning Water in a Global Society" and "Dark Tourism as Peace Education." Through an asynchronous question and answer session, Chiba University students were able to review the themes of their graduation theses from multiple perspectives, achieving an important step toward completion. Students at the University of Alabama learned about the perspectives on global issues of Japanese students, who have a background different from their own.

Cooperation was obtained in conducting a questionnaire related to the themes of the graduation theses. This was a starting point for considering the similarities and differences between Japanese and U.S. perspectives on peace education, leading to the creation of a questionnaire with a broader target audience.

グローバルイシューを日米両国の学生の多様な視点から考える。国際教養学部卒業論文のプロポーザルを報告し、アラバマ大学の学生からのコメントおよび質問により、新たな気づきを得る。
授業内容
千葉大学国際教養学部4年生が「グローバル社会における水をめぐる問題」、「平和教育としてのダーク・ツーリズム」をテーマとする卒業論文のプロポーザルのビデオ・プレゼンテーションをMoodleに掲載し、アラバマ大学の学生からコメントを募った。千葉大生は非同期の質疑応答を通じて、卒業論文のテーマを多角的に見直すことができ、完成に向けた重要なステップとなった。アラバマ大学の学生は、異なるバックグラウンドを持つ日本の学生のグローバルイシューへの視点を学ぶことができた。

卒業論文のテーマに関連したアンケートの実施に協力を得ることができた。平和教育に関する考え方の日米の違いと共通点を考える起点となり、より対象を拡大したアンケートの質問表作成につながった。
